CON-SPACE EXPANDS AUSTRALIA

February 17, 1997
NEWS RELEASE NO. 97-004

Richmond, BC -- Mr. Terence A. Ibbetson, President of CON-SPACE COMMUNICATIONS LTD., announced today that the Company has significantly expanded its sales coverage in Australia by establishing Protector Safety Supply Pty. Ltd. as its new Country Distributor. Protector has 26 offices in major centres throughout Australia.

"Almost two years ago our New Zealand distributor agreed to help us sell in Australia, which, among other things, resulted in the sale of our equipment to Qantas Airlines. With the recent introduction of a Confined Space Regulation in Australia, it became apparent that proper coverage could only come from having a strong local distributor in place." said Ibbetson, adding, "Protector approached us after seeing our equipment in Dallas last November at the National Safety Congress trade show. They turned out to be exactly what we were looking for."

The market potential for CON-SPACE products in Australia exceeds $20,000,000, so a strong organization was needed to ensure success. Protector originally started in Sydney in 1938 and has grown into an international company. They are the leading merchandiser and supplier in Australia and New Zealand of a total range of protective [safety] equipment and work wear. Their major markets are the resources, manufacturing, construction and utilities sectors. With 26 branch offices across the country, Protector Safety Supply is the major player in the Australian Safety industry and is well qualified to handle the CON-SPACE products. "We are extremely pleased to have Protector handling as our products in Australia," said Ibbetson.
