RICHMOND, BC - It is a dark and stormy night when a call is made to the local authorities informing them that a toxic chemical bomb has been planted at the crowded airport. The emergency preparedness "First Response Team" (FRT) is immediately dispatched to the airport while the on-site police begin the task of evacuating the terminal building. Upon arrival at the emergency area the FRT begins donning their protective equipment. Included is breathing apparatus, a face mask, a fully encapsulated protective suit, gloves, and boots. Added to this are various other items for the detection and defusing a terrorist bomb. But they must also communicate and how can you do that through a face mask and encapsulation suit?

CON-SPACE COMMUNICATIONS LTD., (VSE:CCB) of Richmond, BC, has the answer. A new product they recently introduced is attracting a lot of attention from First Responders. "Our SR65 two-way radio accessory allows simple communication regardless of the breathing or protective equipment worn by users," said Mr. Terence A. Ibbetson, President of CON-SPACE. "The unit works extremely well in high noise environments, in firefighting, building collapse, hazardous material handling and in noisy police actions, which pretty much describes the duties of First Response Teams."

Purchase of equipment for "Domestic Preparedness for Weapons of Mass Destruction" has become a major issue in the United States. Currently, the Federal Government and over 120 of its major cities have set aside money for this purpose. The CON-SPACE SR65 radio accessories, interface with any portable two-way radio commercially available today and are already in the hands of First Responders. The unique accessories are considered an essential tool for maintaining communication under a wide range of unusual, many times dangerous, conditions.
