NEWS RELEASE NO. 96-002

Richmond, B. C. -- "CON-SPACE's new product, the CSI-1100 Communication System, was awarded the "AWARD OF MERIT" last week in Houston, Texas at the Energy Week '96 Trade Show by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers," announced Mr. Terry Ibbetson, President of CON-SPACE COMMUNICATIONS LTD.

"This is the first year the prestigious Best Mechanical Engineering Achievement Award has been awarded at Energy Week '96," said Cheryl Loeb of ASME International (American Society of Mechanical Engineers). She continued, "The award was originally designed by ASME's Petroleum Division for the Offshore Technology Conference and has been given at that event for 13 years. This year the award was renamed the Thayer Best Mechanical Engineering Achievement Award after Keith Thayer, member, ASME Board of Governors."

This very important award recognizes a product, device or system that best reflects innovative and practical use of mechanical engineering in solving problems, improving design or maximizing performance. CON-SPACE developed a series of unique industrial intercom systems which are currently used in many Refineries and Chemical Plants. This equipment is also used by general industry, municipalities, fire departments and rescue teams as well as the military.

"We are very pleased to have our products recognized by such an important organization as the Petroleum Division of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers," concluded Ibbetson.
